    WATERFRONT RUSTIC COTTAGES

The 17 rustic cottages of the Gîte du phare de Pointe-des-Monts are judiciously placed along the coastline to allow you an intimate contact with the St-Laurence and the peacefulness of this exceptional site. From the cottage deck, you can admire sea birds, seals head in water, and even whale blowings, if you are lucky.

For the cottage, several options are available depending on your needs. With one or two bedrooms, some cottages are equipped with kitchenettes while others include breakfast served in the dining room of the Gite de la Chapelle.

    Near this cottage

    • Body of water: Fleuve St-Laurent
  • In this peaceful and refreshing location, several activities are possible:

WALKS ON THE SEASHORE - Strolling along the beach, examining pieces of wreckage from historic shipwrecks, collecting stones and shells, watching for the breath of the great whales that are perfectly visible from the shore, walking along the trails.

BIRD WATCHING - Pointe-des-Monts is an ideal place to witness the spectacular dives of the eagle-fisherman and the gannet, to discover the "cribs" of young eider ducks watched by devoted adults, to see couples of sad doves or detect the game of the astute sea crows.

THE CHARLOTTE TRAIL AND THE NATIVE ASHINI TENT SITE - One can go through this interpretation trail which testifies the story of natives who lived in Pointe-des-Monts from prehistory until the beginning of the last century . Many heritage and ecological resorts illustrate the ways in which their community lives focus on seal and salmon fishing.

OLD LIGHTHOUSE HERITAGE MUSEUM - The exhibits on the seven floors of the lighthouse illustrate the lives of the aboriginal and pioneers who lived here, from prehistory to 1964.

TROUT AND SALMON FISHING - It is easy to fish the native speckled trout in the Baie-Trinité (15km) using boats in place on many lakes. Salmon can also be caught in the Trinité and Godbout rivers (11 and 35km).

FISHING AT SEA - Directly from the shore or public dock of Baie-Trinité, you can catch superb sea trout or combative mackerel (when at the right season).
